UNFPA transferred a VW Transporter – mobile VCT unit to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
13 October, Kyiv. UNFPA transferred a VW Transporter – VCT unit to the Main medical department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine within the framework of UNFPA/UNDP joint programme "HIV/STI Prevention among Uniformed Services in Ukraine" supported by the European Commission.
Dr. Borys Vornyk, Head of UNFPA Country Office in Ukraine, Mr. Petro Melnyk, General-Major of medical service, Head of Main medical department of the Ministry of Defense and Mr. Valeriy Barkevych, Colonel of medical service, Senior state sanitary inspector of the Ministry of Defense were present at the solemn signing of documents related to the vehicle transfer.
Giving the interview to journalists of Central TV-center of the Ministry of Defence Dr.Vornyk said, that within the framework of UNFPA/UNDP joint programme during 2005-2009 UNFPA had supplied the Ministry of Defence with different medical and educational equipment, test-systems, syringes, medical expandable equipment and IEC materials for uniformed personnel. He expressed a hope the VCT unit will increase capacity of medical service in HIV/STI prevention among uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces.
UNFPA transferred vehicle Skoda Oktavia to Kyiv city center of social services for family, children and youth to support implementation of prevention programmes.
